SCRUFFY
Scruffy, is a cute, lovable and extremely hardworking male terrier mix. His friendly and reassuring personality has made him the favorite of many homeowners, staff and managers. People are amused when they see him and impressed when they see him in action. Scruffy was originally rescued and trained by the FSI K9 Academy, in Alabama. Scruffy has been working, training and providing peace of mind for clients since 2011.
NEMO
Nemo, is a handsome male beagle, a hunter by nature. The one thing you’ll always notice about Nemo is his tireless work ethic. Nemo’s has an exceedingly high work drive, allowing him to work tirelessly for hours every day. Nemo is not only capable of hunting for hours every day, but more importantly he loves every second of it! Nemo was originally rescued and trained by the FSI K9 Academy, in Alabama. Nemo has been energetically working, training and providing peace of mind for clients since 2011.
BELLE
Belle, is a beautiful female Beagle mix. While she may be a little reserved to say hello to you, she will always excitedly hunt, locate and say hi to any Bed Bugs you may have. Her curious, lovable nature has her thoroughly hunting every inch of your home or property. Belle was originally rescued and trained by the FSI K9 Academy, in Alabama. Belle has been working, training and providing peace of mind for clients since 2013.
CHERRY
Cherry, is an adorable Labrador and Jack Russel mix. She is always the youngest team member who is always trying to outwork her older teammates. Cherry’s lineage makes her the perfect hunting dog, full of energy, excitement and the drive to hunt. Cherry was originally rescued and trained by the FSI K9 Academy, in Alabama. Cherry has been working, training and providing peace of mind for clients since 2014.
DAISY
Daisy is an adorable, friendly, energetic Labrador mix. Her high hunt drive, love of finding Bed Bugs and tireless work ethic is making her a rising star with every client she meets. Daisy was originally rescued and trained by the FSI K9 Academy, in Alabama. Daisy has been working, training and providing peace of mind for clients since 2018.

Scent Detection Dogs use a series of olfactory senses that can differentiate between micro particles that enter the nose. The scent is then broken down into specific identifiable particles which the dog can recognize as Target or Non-Target scent. Training and Discrimination is performed every day to keep the dogs focused on the specific Bed Bug Scent. This type of training teaches the dogs to disregard any scent that is not bed bugs. This repetitious process keeps the dog's skills on the Target insect's scent. There is no tool that is more agile or discriminating than a trained canine.
A dog's sensitivity to odor is 10 to 100 times greater than man's. The average dog has 200 to 250 million scent receptors in its nose compared to a human's 5 million. Dogs can detect the tiniest levels of odors, down to a few parts per billion; and can be trained to discriminate between 10 to 30 odors. Our dogs are only trained on the viable scent of bed bugs nothing else. In rigorous scientific tests conducted by entomologists at the University of Florida in Gainesville, properly trained dogs had a consistent 98% accuracy rate in detecting the presence of live bed bugs and their eggs in various environments.
